Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino has announced that the company’s stablecoin, USDT, now serves nearly 500 million users worldwide, representing a 10% increase from the final quarter of 2024. During the second quarter of 2025, the platform added about 30 million new users. Following the addition, the number of active daily traders reached 17 million, showing its growing transactional activity in the digital asset market.
Ardoino stated that USDT’s market capitalization is nearing $170 billion, supported by an average daily trading volume of $45 billion. Approximately 35% of the total USDT supply is held by depositors. Based on its U.S. Treasury holdings for Q2 2025, Tether would rank 18th among all global U.S. Treasury holders if classified as a country.
Data shows that 63% of USDT traders exclusively trade the token, while 78% of other stablecoin traders also exchange additional digital assets. Ardoino added that Tether’s profit margin stands at 99%.
