Dutch man Didi Taihuttu, gains over $10 million in 7 years after selling house to buy Bitcoin

Didi Taihuttu, a 39-year-old father of three, who sold all his prized possessions including his house and cars in 2017 has gained over $10 million in profit since then.

The Dutchman made the news back in 2017 for his bold conviction on Bitcoin and how far he was willing to go to profit from the new technology.

7 years later, Didi is sitting on over $10 million in profit and can buy back the house he sold in 2017 with so much money left.

Didi took to X to share his inspiring experience with Bitcoin highlighting the huge difference the crypto asset makes in comparison to traditional models of investing.

We sold our 300K house in 2017 for 100 #Bitcoin

We can buy back that same house which today costs 400k for 4 #Bitcoin

If we had held the 300K in a bank account from 2017 we would not have been able to buy back the house

That’s the #BTC difference” Didi stated

Didi got into cryptocurrency as early as 2013 and decided to go all into Bitcoin around 2017. The decision was initially contested by his family members who eventually came around and subscribed to the idea.

The Math

Didi Taihuttu sold his house and cars to buy 100 BTC in 2017 at a unit price of $3,700. This means the Dutchman doled out $370,000 for the 100 BTC tokens back in 2017.

Assuming Didi has not sold any of the BTC tokens till today, the 100 BTC is currently worth $10,484,500 at the current price of $104,845 per BTC today.

Subtracting the initial cost of $370,000 from the projected price of $10,484,500 today leaves us with a profit of $10,114,500.

The above calculations reveal that the Dutchman would have gained a $10 million profit in 7 years assuming he didn’t sell any of his tokens.

Didi’s Big Bet

Speaking to Newsweek back in 2017, Didi Taihuttu explained the risk and reality of his Big bet on Bitcoin. He explained that he was prepared to live with the outcome of his decision whichever way it turned out.

Our expectation is that the value of one bitcoin will rise to between 12,000 and 20,000 [euros] over the next three years,” Taihuttu says. “If this is true, then we can live for a long time like this without the pressure of needing to work.

Didi also explained what he would do with his family if Bitcoin crashed along with their dream

If we end up with nothing anymore, I guess we’ll just have to start over,” Taihuttu says. “But then at least we tried.”.

Bitcoin at the moment is exchanging hands for $104,735 adding a whopping $101,035 since the year 2017 when Didi made his purchase.
